| :: About Land Rover > Land Rover Future | ||
| In the next couple of years, Americans will see more new SUV's, SUV-hybrids, luxo-trucks, and other euphemistic all-things-to-all-drivers vehicles than any of us imagined just a few years ago. Faced with such a dizzying array of new hardware, it's easy to forget that the current SUV craze was actually started in Solihull, England in 1970 with the introduction of the ground-breaking Range Rover. While all of the new vehicles hitting showroom floors attempt to cash-in on the Rover cache', remember that Land Rover has been creating 4WD vehicles - and nothing but - for over 50 years! Along the way, they've been setting new standards in 4WD techno-luxury as well. (Witness: 85% of the Disco Series II includes new parts and systems not found in the original Discovery!) So let them come. The world is full of products created in an attempt to steal market share from the original. It is the very nature of competition, and it gives rise to new and exciting concepts, higher quality and lower prices. Still...from Levi's to Land Rovers, the originals shine through the cloud of competition, leading the very pack they created with the same energy and forward thinking that inspired them in the first place. That inspiration is as real as it is indefinable, and it's something you'll feel the minute you walk in the door of any Land Rover showroom. If you've been there, you know. If you haven't, you'll see.
